I have a large old pickle jar my aunt gave me. It's been sitting around here and there but I never really knew what to do with it. I have nothing on my coffee table in my den in progress so I thought I would use the pickle jar to top off the coffee table. I like it and it gives some height to the area and stands out in a good way. I added some pea gravel and small stones (less than 3 bucks a bag at HL) and a simple white candle.
Simple.
I absolutley love this! The frugality and simplicity is very appealing and the jar has a vintage quality. It looks like something Pottery Barn would have made if they'd thought of it. The pebbles and white pillar candle were a perfect choice. Mary
ReplyDeleteThank you, thank you for showing this...I have one of these and earlier this morning I was wondering what to put on the old wood table in the room off the kitchen, well now I know! It's fantastic I'll be going to the dollar tree today! With changing styles I've been trying to keep things I already have and have had for years so today you just helped me...big smiles to you!

Oh I like it! p.s. congrats on the Funky Junk feature!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. We used split peas at my daughters wedding in hurrican vases with candles. The green was perfect. I almost thought you used the seven bean soup package instead of the stones.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great jar with lots of personality!
ReplyDeleteSimple..Simply clever! Thanks for sharing this :0)
ReplyDeleteWow, I love this!! What a fabulous idea. And talk about cheap...I already have a candle, and gravel...just have to get a jar like that! Thanks for the idea :)

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely old jar. I love the stones and candle, and can see you transforming the jar with the seasons - maybe with pinecones at Christmas or Japanese Lanterns in the fall.
ReplyDeleteBoy do we love pickels. That is the coolest jar and I love the idea of rocks and a candle and sitting it on the table.

ReplyDeleteMy mom has one of those jars in her basement~I was very tempted to take it this last weekend! Would that be wrong? It was just sitting there, unappreciated...

ReplyDeleteYou're right - so simple -- but SO perfect! It's amazing what can come together with used finds. Great job!!
ReplyDeleteI like it! I almost bought a pickle jar for $5 last weekend during my shopping binge, but couldn't think of what I would do with it. Now I'm kicking myself in the butt!

I have the very same pickle jar! Kenny and I throw our extra change in it. The problem is that it never seems to grow. These jars are SO BIG -- I wonder how many years it will take before we see a difference in the height of the coins (haha). In other words -- I LOVE your candle idea.
