my cousin's cottage...part two

Here is part two of our tour of my cousin's little cottage outside Austin.

I said I had a little interesting fact about Gale that might surprise you.

Gale doesn't read blogs.  She doesn't have internet or use a computer really. 

She's been on a computer and she's seen my blog but she has no idea what's going on

in blogland.  She's never heard of Flea Market Style Magazine and she doesn't have cable tv.

So, she's come up with everything you're seeing all on her own.

Please keep in mind that there photos were taken in the early morning so light was not great.

This is my favorite picture.  This little house had a makeshift kitchen with cold water only.  Gale added

a hot water line but didn't have the money to spend on fancy faucets.  

So, she uses vintage garden faucets on her kitchen sink.  It's so darn cute!

She even tied a little ribbon on the back of one of them.  

Here is the prettiest chest of drawers and it's in the guest room.

Here are her original floors. She has painted them a couple of times over the years.

This is an interior wall that needed repair which would have been expensive.  Gale took some joint compound and swirled it on to resemble plaster.  There was a door in this wall that needed to be removed so she put in a rustic built in bookshelf.

I can't get enough of those original pale blue beadboard ceilings.  

I'm loving that little narrow cabinet in the corner and the white stool.

Even her little cat food dish is vintage and so cute.

This is what the light switches look like around the house.  Even these are too cute.  

This was one of my favorite little things.  It's a painting and only about 2 x 3 inches.

She has this huge round unframed mirror that hangs which reflects a lot of light.

The mirror's edges have just the right amount of aging.

I even had to take pictures of the doorknobs in this house.  Here's one of the white ones...

Parts of the house have original board and batten.  Most of these walls were exterior walls at one point.

breakfast nook; on the right you can see an original crystal doorknob on a little pantry door.

Gale used a couple of old trunks to create a small foyer in her entry.  These also provide storage.  Here's the dark green one on one side (and don't you just love what's on top of it)

...and here's the other green one on the other side.

...and here's a black doorknob.  I like the black ones on the white doors.

In the morning before we headed back to Round Top, Gale made us breakfast 

with these farm fresh eggs.  The two pale blue ones at top were just about too pretty eat. 

Pale blue, cream and soft brown...even her eggs are pretty.

Here's a close up of her front porch.  She has some wonderful old chairs and

if you look closely on the right, she even has a vintage hammock.  Swoon.
