Back in November, Donna at Funky Junk Interiors wrote a great post about "what's stopping you?" from taking some risks to do things you want to do and achieve things you may have dreamt about. It is a great post and I encourage you to read if you haven't. It was a funny thing about that post...it was like she was reading my mind. Coincidentally, she did that post on my birthday. So, yeah, it spoke to me.
At the same time and even a few months leading up to that November, my pal, Jennie and I were seriously considering taking a risk. In fact, we've joked about it for years. The 2nd half of 2010 though, we talked and talked and talked about it. Should we? Could we? Jennie and I are notorious for taking forever to make decisions and commit to things. So, this was a HUGE decision for us. But you know what? We decided to take the risk. So, here's the rest of the space...and the rest of the story.
We opened a booth at a great local antique mall. Oh my gosh, I can't believe I just said that..but yes, we did. I think we're crazy but it's been kind of fun...and scary. We opened it December 1, 2010 at the Lone Star Antique Mall in the northeast Fort Worth area. Our little spot is called "Secondary".
It's evolving.
I'll save that for part two.
So what do you think? Are we crazy? Is it a risk you would take?
Any advice for us? We'll certainly take it.
I love it! Good for you! The space looks great!
ReplyDeleteI have no words of wisdom, but if I lived near you I'd shop there! :) -denise
Oh ma gosh, you are so brave. And SO awesome. This is amazing! You'll never know until you try, right? If I lived near you, I would sooo be hitting that place. It looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful! Good for y'all courageous ladies! I love all the letters.

Well done! What a great looking space
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I'd love to do this....thanks for showing me what courage is! :)
ReplyDeleteSome of the best things in my life have come from taking risks - I'd much rather say I tried than spend my life wondering 'what if?'. Well done you, you've made the space look great!
ReplyDeleteYou will never know until you try! I love your booth! I really love those letters! What is your prices on those? I might be interested!
ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm so happy for you! That's great news. I am a huge risk taker, so I'd totally take it! I wish you the best in your new endeavor! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sure you'll do fantastic with your sense of style.
ReplyDeleteNo, you are NOT crazy! I love your spot, and I'd definitely stop there. This is awesome, Gina!
ReplyDeleteI love the bread box.
Good for you Gina - following your dream. Even the best job in the world can seem routine after awhile and it is fun to try other creative endeavours (on the side, of course). I've thought about refinishing/painting furniture and selling it on Craigslist as a side venture. It takes a lot of time and energy to do it though. keep us posted as to how it's going. If I ever make it to Texas I'm coming to visit your booth.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Wishing you an exciting and success filled 2011!
ReplyDeletethats fantastic!!!!best of luck! I love what I am seeing. My kind of store!

Go you!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea!
I'm sorry, NO ONE is going to do this better than you do.
No one. Nope.
Yay!!!
Wow! Where have I been? I can't believe I missed this earlier in the week. Congratulations to both of you, I think it's fantastic. What makes it even better is that there are 2 of you to share in the work. If it were just you I think it wouldn't be as fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact that you didn't even let a peep out about this in over a month is mind boggling. I would have been blabbing every step of the way. Show some more pics, ok? I'm so impressed!
Oh Gina I LOVE your space....If I were ANY WHERE near Fort Worth I'd shop your space like a CRAZY lady....hahahahaha....GOOD ON YOU BOTH....I'm glad you were able to set aside the 'procrastination' factor long enough to make your minds up....!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having an AWESOME weekend....!
Cheers for now Lovey,
Tamarah :o)
