Jennie and I went junking last weekend and found quite a few things. Part One of this post shows one of my new favorite things. I found this well-worn handmade birdhouse. I didn't have to do a thing to it except figure out where to put it and how to put it there. I really wanted it in the front garden but I really needed a base or something for it.
This weekend, I found this! It's a perfect pale blue base that needs a top. I think we can make this work for the birdhouse.
So, we bought some of these thingamajigs to attach the two things together. I sealed both the birdhouse and the base with a poly sealer to keep the paint from flaky off anymore and to protect it a bit from the outdoor weather.
...and here are some pictures of the finished product. It's a beautiful thing.
I love the birdhouse!! SO cute!! What lucky finds - how cool is that to find two perfect pieces!!
ReplyDeleteHi Gina. Your new birdhouse looks fabulous! I love the chippy blue post! The completed project looks wonderful in your garden:) Hope you are having a wonderful weekend ~ Tina x
ReplyDeleteThey were made for each other. I have never thought to poly seal my birdhouses. Do you use paint on or spray. I have an old wicker buggie I would like to use outside for plants but I am afraid it will get ruined.
ReplyDeleteHow lucky were you to find the post seperately! I love the chippy blue color ... really I LOVE the whole birdhouse! It looks wonderful in your yard - I hope a bird family discovers it soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend ~ Sarah
That's adorable. I love that you found two separate pieces and they look made for each other!!!
ReplyDelete:) Laura
That is awesome. Your house is so ca-ute. Seriously- they don't make 'em like that out here.
ReplyDeleteI love it! Chipy paint and all!
ReplyDeleteYou will definitely have some new tenants soon. Can't wait to see what you do with the shutter.
ReplyDeleteLori, you noticed that shutter? I got that and the post at the same Ft. Worth salvage place on College street. I have already sealed it and have plans for it today! Hopefully, it will be included in my part 2!
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love love your entrance, Gina! How gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThe birdhouse is a cutie! Adorable.
Have a great new week. Your blog is lovely!

This is great. I just found an old bird feeder in my garage that my Dad gave me before he passed away in January. This would be a great way to display it in my garden.
ReplyDeleteThat looks amazing.

ReplyDeleteNew follower via Southern Hospitality. Isn't it great that the birdhouse and post found each other for such a great project. Not only did it keep two things out of a land fill, it is now feeding our bird friends. A great 2 for 1 for our planet! Rory
ReplyDeleteThat is just darling! Looking forward to seeing what else you have :)
ReplyDeleteThat looks like an old porch post. I find them around here often and always pick them up.
ReplyDeleteThe birdhouse and post are a perfect marriage!
